The University of Florida’s Digital Worlds Institute today announced its recognition as the #24 Grad School for Game Design by The Princeton Review for 2024. This achievement highlights the institute’s commitment to excellence in game design education and solidifies its position as a leader in the field of digital arts and sciences.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of the Top 25 Graduate and Top 35 Undergraduate Schools for Game Design by The Princeton Review,” says Tim Difato, Interim Director of the Digital Worlds Institute. “This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to providing students with a world-class education in game design and digital arts.”

This milestone is the latest in a series of accomplishments for the Digital Worlds Institute, including ranking #4 in the 2024 Top South Graduate Programs for Video Game Design by The Princeton Review. The institute’s undergraduate program has also ranked #35 overall and #4 in the South by The Princeton Review.

“Ranking #24 nationwide and #4 in the South by The Princeton Review is no small feat given the number of exceptional game design graduate programs out there,” said Nick Heitzman, Senior Lecturer in Game Development at the Digital Worlds Institute. “We did good, let’s keep making more games.”

The Digital Worlds Institute’s Masters in Digital Arts & Sciences (MiDAS) program prepares students for careers in interactive media industries, focusing on emerging technologies like Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR). The one-year program, starting in late summer and graduating the following spring, offers a collaborative environment with personalized attention from faculty. Students develop industry-standard projects for their portfolios, gaining skills in game engines, design, interactivity, project management, and critical thinking.
