What brought you to the MiDAS program?
After finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, I wanted to pursue a Master’s degree in a different field. My brother was enrolled in the BADAS program at the time, and I found what he was learning and creating to be extremely interesting, so I looked into it further and decided to apply.
What was your lightbulb moment that took you down this career path?
I took a User Experience Design class in undergrad, and it was the class I enjoyed the most out of all of my classes. I discovered that I enjoy designing and creating as a result of it, and the MIDAS program has allowed me to pursue that interest further.
What interactive experience are you looking forward to creating in the near future?
In the spring, we’ll scan ourselves, create a 3D model of our virtual character, and then animate it. I’m really looking forward to seeing myself as a digital animated character!
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I have extensive outdoor experience and skills, including white water rafting, sea kayaking, caving, mountaineering, and my personal favorite: rock climbing.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten?
I’ve always been interested in movies and learning how to make them. I also enjoy traveling and spending time outside. After I graduate, I hope to use what I’ve learned in the MiDAS program to break into the filmmaking industry. A long-term goal of mine would be to work somewhere where I can make films while also traveling and enjoying the outdoors.
Favorite place you’ve visited?
Ecuador is my favorite place I’ve visited! I spent two weeks traveling throughout Ecuador, from the Amazon to the Andes mountains. While we were there, my brother and I climbed Cotopaxi Mountain, which is over 19,347 feet in elevation!
